What is Aster?
Aster (ASTER) is the token of Aster, a decentralized exchange for perpetual futures that works across several blockchains, including BNB Chain. It was formed from the merger of Astherus and APX Finance in late 2024, and it aims to give traders the speed and tools of a centralized exchange while they keep control of their own funds.
Aster offers two ways to trade. Simple Mode gives one-click trading with very high leverage for users who want an easy experience, while Pro Mode offers a full order book, advanced order types and hidden orders. Beyond crypto, Aster also lists perpetual contracts on some US stocks.
The ASTER token is used for governance, fee discounts and rewards, and a share of protocol fees has gone to buybacks. The project gained a lot of attention in 2025 as competition among on-chain perpetual exchanges grew.
