Gate (GT) is the utility token of Gate, one of the longest-running cryptocurrency exchanges, and of its related blockchain networks. It was launched in 2019 and is used to get discounts on trading fees and access to special programs and token launches on the exchange.
GT also pays for transactions on Gate's own blockchains, including an Ethereum-compatible layer-2 network called Gate Layer, which aims to support DeFi and other apps connected to the exchange. Gate regularly burns GT using part of its profits, steadily reducing the total supply.
