PAX Gold (PAXG) is a gold-backed token issued by Paxos, a regulated blockchain company. Each PAXG represents one fine troy ounce of a London Good Delivery gold bar stored in professional vaults in London, so its price follows the price of physical gold.
PAXG lets people own gold on the Ethereum blockchain with the ability to trade it at any time, send it anywhere and use it in DeFi, without the costs of storing and insuring gold themselves. Holders can look up the specific bar backing their tokens and can redeem them for physical gold or cash through Paxos.
Paxos is regulated by the New York State Department of Financial Services and publishes monthly attestations that confirm the gold reserves. PAXG is one of the largest tokenized gold products, alongside Tether Gold.
