What is Kaspa?
Kaspa (KAS) is a proof-of-work cryptocurrency launched in 2021 with no pre-mine or pre-sale. It is built on GHOSTDAG, a protocol that lets blocks be created in parallel instead of one at a time, forming what is known as a BlockDAG. This allows Kaspa to add new blocks many times per second while staying decentralized.
Because blocks arrive so quickly, transactions on Kaspa confirm within seconds, much faster than traditional proof-of-work chains like Bitcoin. Miners use the kHeavyHash algorithm, and dedicated mining hardware has been built for the network.
Kaspa has a maximum supply of around 28.7 billion coins, with block rewards falling smoothly every month. The community is working on upgrades that add smart contracts and more programmability to the network.
