Lighter (LIT) is the token of Lighter, a decentralized trading platform focused on perpetual futures. Lighter's key idea is verifiable trading: it uses zero-knowledge proofs to show that every order match and liquidation was carried out correctly, so traders don't have to simply trust the exchange.
Lighter runs as an Ethereum layer-2 network built for trading, aiming for speed and prices comparable to centralized exchanges while users keep control of their funds. It became one of the fastest-growing on-chain perpetual exchanges thanks to low fees and strong trading volumes.
The LIT token is used within the Lighter ecosystem for governance and rewards. As with other new trading-platform tokens, its value is closely tied to how much trading activity the exchange can attract and keep.
