What is VeChain?
VeChain (VET) is a layer-1 blockchain designed for businesses, with a strong focus on supply chain tracking, sustainability and real-world data. It started in 2015 and launched its own mainnet in 2018. Companies use VeChain to track products, verify their origin and record data such as carbon emissions.
VeChain uses a two-token system. VET is the main token, used to store value and generate VTHO, a second token that pays for transactions. This lets businesses predict their costs more easily. The network runs on proof-of-authority, with known validators, and has been upgrading toward a more open staking model.
VeChain has partnered with companies in logistics, retail and sustainability, and it powers apps that reward users for eco-friendly actions. VET is also used for staking and governance.
