What is USDS?
USDS is the US dollar stablecoin of Sky, the protocol formerly known as MakerDAO. It is the upgraded successor to DAI and aims to keep a value of one dollar through a system of over-collateralized loans, reserve assets and automated smart contracts rather than a single company holding bank deposits.
DAI holders can convert to USDS one-to-one and back. Users can deposit USDS into the Sky Savings Rate to receive sUSDS, which grows as the protocol earns revenue from its lending and reserve assets. USDS can also be supplied to earn SKY governance tokens as rewards.
Sky expands through semi-independent projects known as Stars, which take USDS into areas such as lending, real-world assets and institutional credit. USDS is available on Ethereum and several other networks, and it has become one of the largest decentralized stablecoins by supply.
