"Because I analyse data as well as testing theories, a lot of my time is spent writing (and debugging) computer code, and doing statistical analysis. It is very rewarding to go from a theory that you think might explain our universe, to the nitty gritty of data analysis. I’m lucky to be able to work in both areas."
Renée Hložek is a South African cosmologist and Associate Professor of Astronomy & Astrophysics at the Dunlap Institute for Astronomy & Astrophysics at the University of Toronto. Her research focuses on theoretical and observational cosmology, including measurements of the cosmic microwave background, constraints on axion dark matter, Type Ia supernova cosmology, and the development of statistical
