FIGHTING is ordained for you, even though it be hateful to you; but it — Islam and war

"NOW WHEN you meet [in war] those who are bent on denying the truth, smite their necks until you overcome them fully, and then tighten their bonds; but thereafter [set them free,] either by an act of grace or against ransom, so that the burden of war may be lifted: thus [shall it be]. And [know that] had God so willed, He could indeed punish them [Himself]; but [He wills you to struggle] so as to test you [all] by means of one another. And as for those who are slain in Gods cause, never will He let their deeds go to waste: He will guide them [in the hereafter as well], and will set their hearts at rest, and will admit them to the paradise which He has promised them."

"Narrated Zaid bin Khalid Al-Juhani: That the Messenger of Allah said, "Whoever prepares a fighter in Allahs cause, or looks after the family of a fighter, then he has participated in a military expedition."

"It was narrated that Safwan bin ‘Assil said: “The Messenger of Allah sent us in a military detachment and said: ‘Go in the Name of Allah, and in the cause of Allah. Fight those who disbelieve in Allah. Do not mutilate, do not be treacherous, do not steal from the spoils of war, and do not kill children.’”"

"Narrated Aisha (mother of the faithful believers): I said, "O Allahs Apostle! Shouldnt we participate in Holy battles and Jihad along with you?" He replied, "The best and the most superior Jihad (for women) is Hajj which is accepted by Allah." Aisha added: Ever since I heard that from Allahs Apostle I have determined not to miss Hajj."

"The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "War is deceit."

"Narrated Kab ibn Malik: When the Prophet (peace be upon him) intended to go on an expedition, he always pretended to be going somewhere else, and he would say: War is deception."
