American Pop is a 1981 American adult animated epic jukebox musical drama film starring Ron Thompson and produced and directed by Ralph Bakshi. It was the fourth animated feature film to be presented in Dolby sound. The film tells the story of four generations of the Belinskys, an immigrant family of musicians whose careers parallel the history of American popular music in the 20th century.
"All those years...All those dreams...All those sons...One of them is going to be a star."
"Whether you dance to it, drive to it, sing with it, or swing to it...Whether you can crank it up, plug it in, or switch it on...It assaults your senses, rocks your body, and touches your soul. Its American Pop."
"One family, four generations, in love with the greatest music of all time."
"Ron Thompson as Tony Belinksy / Pete Belinksy"
"Jeffrey Lippa as Zalmie Belinksy"
"Zalmie should have been a star, but there were complications. Benny could have been famous, but life got in the way. Tony had a brush with success, but had to let it go. So it was up to Pete...to grab it, to hold it, to make himself heard."
"Richard Singer as Benny Belinksy"
