Emmanuel Bernardino Lowi Napeta
Emmanuel Bernardino Lowi Napeta is a South Sudanese Catholic prelate who is the bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Torit in South Sudan since 8 November 2022. Before that, from 24 October 2004 until he was appointed bishop, he was a priest of the Archdiocese of Khartoum in Sudan. He was appointed bishop by Pope Francis. He was consecrated bishop at Torit on 15 January 2023.
"Some elders force their daughters to marry when they are still young in order to obtain cows in exchange. This old mentality must be challenged to allow girls to obtain a quality education that will ensure them a decent future. Education makes the impossible possible."
