"The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is not a religious conflict, but a political one. It can only be solved politically. I see two tasks for the religious representatives. On the one hand, the religious authorities should contradict all those who try to turn this political conflict into a religious one. Secondly, it is their task to keep reminding people of fundamental values and norms that are common to all monotheistic religions and to motivate believers to do their utmost."
