Okay bear with me thisll be a little tough. You should know this isnt — Jerry Springer

"Okay bear with me thisll be a little tough. You should know this isnt the first time I thought about leaving. I thought about it some twenty years ago when a check that would soon become a part of Cincinnati folklore, made me see life from the bottom. To be honest, a thought about ending it all crossed my mind, but a more reasonable alternative seemed to be hey how about just leaving town? Running away? Starting life over, some place else? You see, in political terms as well as human, here in Cincinnati, I was dead. But then in the, probably, the luckiest decision I ever made, I decided No! Im staying put! I would withstand all the jokes, all the ridicule. Id pretend it didnt hurt, and I would give every ounce of my being to Cincinnati. Why in time, I was thinking, youd have to like me. Or if not like me, at least respect me. And Id run for council even unendorsed. And Id prove to you I could be the best public servant you ever had, or Id die trying. Be it as a mayor, an anchor, or a commentator, whatever it took, I was determined to have you know that I was more than a check and a hooker on a one night stand. But something happened along the way. Maybe its Gods way of teaching us. I dont know, but you see? In trying to prove something to you, I learned something about me. I learned that I had fallen in love with you. With Cincinnati. With you who taught me more about life, and caring, and forgiving, and also most importantly, giving. Giving something back. Which is part of the reason... I have been... Excuse me. So sad this week. why... Why its so hard to say goodbye. God bless you, and goodbye."

"Life is what it is, and you take whats handed, and you work as hard as you can, and hopefully youll be successful, but I just dont spend too much time worrying about that. I do my show and Ive always said its a stupid show, and Ive had a wonderful life because of it and all that, but Ive never for a second thought that its important. Its trivial. Its chewing gum. I recognize that. Once you do something thats significant in life, all this other stuff is just a way to eat."

"We all lament the sad decease of the heroic worker who occupied the post until last week. As you know, his services to the cause were considerable. He organised the great dynamite coup of Brighton which, under happier circumstances, ought to have killed everybody on the pier. As you also know, his death was as self-denying as his life, for he died through his faith in a hygienic mixture of chalk and water as a substitute for milk, which substance he regarded as barbaric, and as involving cruelty to the cow."

"Present-day computers are designed primarily to solve preformulated problems or to process data according to predetermined procedures. The course of the computation may be conditional upon results obtained during the computation, but all the alternatives must be foreseen in advance. … The requirement for preformulation or predetermination is sometimes no great disadvantage. It is often said that programming for a computing machine forces one to think clearly, that it disciplines the thought process. If the user can think his problem through in advance, symbiotic association with a computing machine is not necessary."

"We must eliminate that [potential nuclear] threat now before it is too late. But that isnt just a future threat. Saddams existing biological and chemical weapons capabilities pose real threats to America today, tomorrow. … [He] is working to develop delivery systems like missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles that could bring these deadly weapons against U.S. forces and U.S. facilities in the Middle East. He could make these weapons available to many terrorist groups, third parties, which have contact with his government. Those groups, in turn, could bring those weapons into the United States and unleash a devastating attack against our citizens. I fear that greatly."
